Odd/Even Watering Schedule Instituted|
Newcastle, Oklahoma – June 15, 2017
Many residents within Newcastle experienced low water pressure during the last week. It was first thought that high usage by customers coupled with lower rainfall amounts contributed to the low pressure issues. This assumption was inaccurately stated.
The City of Newcastle currently supplies water to the City of Blanchard, and after consulting with Blanchard city officials, it was discovered a water main break had in fact occurred in the City of Blanchard causing water pressure in Newcastle to drop below acceptable levels.
The City of Blanchard continues to work to resolve this issue. However, in the short-term, the City of Newcastle has taken measures to stabilize water pressure in Newcastle and will continue with an odd/even watering schedule as a part of Newcastle’s water agreement with Oklahoma City to ensure pressure is maintained to meet the needs of Newcastle citizens and fire-fighting protective measures.
The City of Newcastle has worked diligently to provide a sufficient water source for all current and future Newcastle residents, and will continue to do so.
The City is grateful for your patience and understanding regarding this matter.
